Queen Elizabeth shares Prince Charles's concern about his son's cannabis smoking and underage drinking, Buckingham Palace said yesterday.

She also expressed her support for the way in which Prince Charles dealt with Prince Harry's confession last summer by sending him to talk to drug addicts at a London rehabilitation clinic and "hopes the matter can now be considered as closed".

At the same time, Wiltshire Police said it was interested in looking at a "dossier" compiled by the News of the World into alleged drug-taking and dealing at the Rattlebone Inn, Gloucestershire, where Prince Harry (17) admitted smoking cannabis and drinking last summer.

Supt Mandy Evely said: "If there is evidence on which we can act, then of course we will do that."

However, Young's Brewery, the company which took over the Rattlebone Inn in March last year, denied Prince Harry was served any alcohol on its premises and insisted he was "always perfectly behaved". The company also denied drugs were openly available and used at the pub.
