Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has arrived in Madrid to negotiate a deal to become coach of Real Madrid, it was reported today.
On Monday Real made the surprise decision not to renew the contract of coach Vicente del Bosque, just a day after the club had secured its 29th Spanish league title.
Spain's Radio Marcasaid Queiroz was expected to meet Real's sporting director Jorge Valdano to finalise a deal that would see him take charge of the Spanish champions next season.
Queiroz, a former Portugal and South Africa boss, is number two to Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford and his appointment would undoubtedly make it easier for new signing David Beckham to adapt to life at the Bernabeu.
Beckham, who is on a promotional tour in Asia, was bought from Manchester United for €35 million euros last week.
