Brixton prison escaper, Nessan Quinlivan, was refused bail by Mr Justice Carney in the High Court yesterday.

Quinlivan (31), who is wanted by British police, is also charged with falsely imprisoning Mr Michael Lyons at Greenhill Road, Garryowen, Limerick, on August 25th last year.

He is detained in Portlaoise Prison and yesterday's court hearing was told he was due to go on trial in November. Before being detained, Quinlivan had been out on bail in relation to other proceedings seeking his extradition back to Britain.

In an affidavit Quinlivan said he had complied with the requirements of the previous bail, which included residing at the family home at Knockalisheen Avenue, Ballynanty Beg, Limerick. He said he was engaged to be married and if given bail he and his fiancee intended to get married this autumn.
