Quinten Hann, who on Tuesday effectively announced his retirement from snooker, was today found guilty of match-fixing and banned for eight years.
The 28-year-old Australian, who had informed the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association that he would not attend today’s independent disciplinary hearing, was found guilty in his absence and ordered to pay £10,000 in costs.
The charges relate to a story in a tabloid newspaper last May accusing Hann of agreeing to accept £50,000 to lose a match at the China Open.
