London - Relatives of those killed in the Paddington rail disaster yesterday launched a bitter attack on the Transport Secretary, Mr John Prescott, and said they had been "betrayed" by his decision to allow Railtrack to retain of its safety function.
The relatives spoke as inquests were held on 16 of the 31 people who died at Ladbroke Grove last October. The father of one young victim was involved in a passionate outburst over the death of his daughter. Mr Kellow, from Skipton, north Yorkshire, said his daughter Elaine's death had been his "worst nightmare" and began to criticise Railtrack and other authorities involved in rail safety when the coroner asked him to confine his comments to his late daughter.
