Germany's Ralf Schumacher remains doubtful for the French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours on July 4th after crashing into a concrete wall during last Sunday's US Grand Prix.
A decision on his participation will be taken early next week, his Williams Formula One team said on Friday.
Schumacher said afterwards that he could remember nothing of the accident.
"As it's only been four days since I was released from hospital following the accident in Indianapolis, I cannot at this stage make a decision as to whether I will take part in next weekend's race in Magny-Cours," he said on Friday.
"I am taking full advantage of the two week break between Indy and France to rest and recuperate from the accident," he added in a team statement.
"When the time comes to make the decision, I will be guided by Professor Sid Watkins (the FIA medical delegate) and speak to Frank Williams about the best course of action."
The German, younger brother of Ferrari's six times world champion Michael Schumacher, has been resting at home in Austria.
Williams technical director Sam Michael said Ralf, who started on pole and won last year's French Grand Prix, was recovering well but it was too early to say whether he would be fit enough to race.
"We will be in a position to confirm our driver line up (for the race) early next week," he said.
