Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is to make his debut in Ireland after signing a deal with the Ritz-Carlton to open a restaurant in their new hotel in Wicklow.
Fresh from his latest TV series of Kitchen Nightmares, he has agreed to partner the company in a restaurant at the five-star Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow.
The hotel will open in the autumn.
Known for his colourful language and hot temper, Ramsay's "signature restaurant" will be on the second floor of the 201-bedroom hotel.
It will seat 140 guests and will incorporate a terrace and private dining rooms with views over the Sugarloaf Mountain and surrounding countryside.
The Wicklow restaurant will be one of 12 owned by the chef, whose company Gordon Ramsay Holdings is expected to turn over £73 million this year.
The restaurants, in locations including London, Tokyo and New York, have attracted high praise and several Michelin stars between them.
The chef has also written half-a-dozen books on food and cookery and was last year awarded an OBE for services to the hospitality industry.
Speaking on his partnership with the Ritz-Carlton hotel chain, Ramsay said it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to open in Ireland, "in such beautiful surroundings as the Powerscourt Estate".
"Ireland is internationally renowned for the quality of its food and the warmth of its hospitality and we are committed to providing an amazing dining experience in this magnificent setting," he said.
