Italian international striker Fabrizio Ravanelli is close to sealing a move to Derby County, the club's manager Jim Smith said today.
"Things have gone reasonably well and if we can carry on in the same way then I remain confident the deal can be done," Smith told skysports.com.
Ravanelli, 32, who has played 22 times for Italy, spent a year at Middlesbrough, scoring 34 goals in all competitions, after moving from Juventus in July 1996.
He had a brief spell with French club Marseille before returning to Italy to play for Lazio.
