Real Madrid general director Jorge Valdano has revealed the club are in talks with Gonzalo Higuain over a new deal which he hopes will keep the striker at the club for the rest of his career.
Argentinian forward Higuain, who scored a hat-trick in the 4-1 win at Real Valladolid last night, has now hit 19 goals in what is proving to be an excellent season for Los Merengues.
Indeed, the 22-year-old’s form this season has helped him outshine many of the so-called Galacticos at the Bernabeu and prompted new contract talks with Valdano keen to extend his deal.
“He is a player with a perfect record,” Valdano told Spanish media. “We are talking with him but there is no rush. We want to renew his deal and for him to finish his career at Real Madrid.”
