Real Madrid have won the Spanish league title for the 29th time after beating Athletic Bilbao 3-1 at the Bernabeu Stadium.
Two goals from Ronaldo and one from fellow Brazilian Roberto Carlos gave Real the victory they needed to stay two points clear of Real Sociedad, who had to settle for second spot despite a 3-0 win at home to Atletico Madrid.
Deportivo Coruna and Celta Vigo were already assured of finishing third and fourth and taking the remaining Champions League places, while last season's champions Valencia finished fifth to go through to the UEFA Cup.
In the only other outstanding issue on the final night of the league season, Barcelona pipped Athletic Bilbao to the final UEFA Cup qualification place with a 2-0 victory at home to Celta Vigo taking them up to sixth.
