Real Madrid have parted company with manager Vicente del Bosque and captain Fernando Hierro just hours after clinching the Spanish League title on Sunday.
The 52-year-old del Bosque led the Spanish giants to the Primera Liga title following the 3-1 home win over Athletic Bilbao but it has proved insufficient to satisfy the Madrid board.
According to Radio Marca, Manchester United assistant coach Carlos Quieroz and Porto boss Jose Mourinho are the two leading candidates to fill the post.
The decision has come as a surprise to the Madrid players, with whom Del Bosque is extremely popular.
Del Bosque won two Champions League trophies with Real in addition to the Primera Liga title in 2001 and now again in 2003.
He took charge at Real following the sacking of Welshman John Toshack in 1999.
Captain Fernando Hierro was not offered a new deal with the club. The 35-year-old defender ends a 14-season spell at the club.
