Good for EU, but not for Killarney
"Good for Ireland, Good for Europe - but not good for Killarney" was the message sent to the Yes campaign yesterday after posters appeared in the Co Kerry tourist town, in breach of a long-standing agreement among political parties. The Yes to Lisbon postering campaign by Fianna Fáil in the town has upset Killarney's Tidy Towns effort and broken a long-standing agreement not to daub the town with political messages.
Local Fianna Fáil activists were last night making frantic efforts to have the posters down by tonight. Killarney Tidy Towns chairwoman Yvonne Quill said she accepted local Fianna Fáil councillors' assurances that they were unaware of the posters being put up on approach roads.
