The brother of Kurdish DemocraticParty leader Massoud Barzani was in critical condition on Sundayafter being wounded in an apparent "friendly fire" attack byUS planes in northern Iraq.
A highly placed Kurdish source told Reuters that WajeehBarzani "was in the convoy, he was injured, he was in a criticalcondition".
The US military said it was investigating reports thatU.S.-led forces bombed a convoy of their own special forces andKurdish allies on Sunday morning about 30 miles (48 km)southeast of the northern city of Mosul.
The Kurdish source said he knew of seven dead Kurdishfighters. "I don't have a number for the Americans or how manywere injured, but there were at least 10 injured. The number ofdeaths may rise."
A BBC correspondent who witnessed the incident said at least10 people, including US special forces, died in the attack.
