A man charged with being in possession of a firearm during a disturbance at a Traveller's funeral was further remanded in custody to June 3rd when he appeared at Sligo District Court yesterday.

Mr Martin McDonagh (27), of Hemel Hampstead, Hertfordshire, was charged with having a .22 Brownie pistol with intent to endanger life at the funeral at Carrownanty, Ballymote, earlier this month.

Mr McDonagh shot himself in the leg during a fracas between feuding members of the Travelling community.

Mr Patrick Ward (38), from Manchester and originally from Mountbellew, Co Galway, died in hospital from gunshot wounds sustained during the disturbance on May 10th.
