The removal of former Ireland rugby international and coach Mick Doyle has taken place this evening at St Brigid's Church in Kildare town.

He was killed in a road collision near Dungannon, Co Tyrone on Tuesday.  He was 63.

Dignitaries from the world of sport and politics joined with hundred of mourners in paying their respects.

Doyle led the Irish rugby team to a Triple Crown victory in 1985. His team also won the Five Nations Championship in the same year.

Between 1965 and 1968 Doyle won 20 consecutive caps as a flanker. He made his international debut against France at Lansdowne Road.

He toured Australia with Ireland in 1967 and South Africa with the British and Irish Lions the next year.

Doyle also coached Leinster to Interprovincial Championship success five times between 1979 and 1983.

The funeral service will be held tomorrow at noon at St Brigid's Church, followed by his burial in Millicent cemetery, Co Kildare.
