THE FAMILY of missing man Trevor Deely have renewed their appeal for the public's help in finding out what happened to him.

The 22-year-old bank employee from Naas, Co Kildare, went missing eight years ago today in Dublin. His disappearance still remains a mystery, despite an intensive land and water search by gardaí and an unprecedented publicity campaign at home and abroad by family and friends.

Last night the Deely family and their friends gathered for a prayer service at Ballycane, Naas, led by Fr John Brickley.

Trevor's father Michael said it was a very difficult time for the family.

"It's so terrible for us all," he said. "He would have been 30 this year."

Mr Deely said the family still lived in hope that he was alive, as there was no proof that he was dead.

Trevor had been at an office Christmas party on the night he went missing. CCTV footage shows him crossing Baggot Street bridge and heading in the direction of Haddington Road at 4.15am on December 8th, 2000.

Any information about Trevor Deely's disappearance should be passed to Pearse Street Garda station at 01-6669000.
