A report into how a two year-old girl died less than 24 hours after her scheduled operation at Crumlin Children's Hospital was cancelled, has not been received by the Minister, four days after it was expected.
A public outcry followed the death of Róisin Ruddle from Adare in Limerick who died at her home last Tuesday because an intensive care nurse was not available for post-operative care.
It later emerged that Temple Street Children's Hospital could have accepted Róisin for the operation. The Minister for Health, Mr Martin, has also conceded that it be more than a year before improvements to Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin could take effect.
The hospital's annual report published last Thursday says decades of under-investment resulted in it being impossible to "maintain the highest possible standards in healthcare".
Mr Martin said he was expecting the report into the incident last Friday but the Eastern Regional Health Authority said today the inquiry is not yet complete.
