Residents of Bentley Villas, Dun Laoghaire, who have enjoyed uninterrupted views across Dublin Bay for more than 100 years have been told that they have no right in law to preserve those views.

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council recently granted planning permission for 58 apartments in two blocks, the development of a new car salesroom and workshops, and the decommissioning of a petrol station on the existing Crawfords Garage site in Old Dun Laoghaire.

The residents have appealed the decision to an Bord Pleanala and a decision on an oral hearing is expected in the next month.
