It is expected that the resignations of the chief executive officer and medical adviser of the North Eastern Health Board will be sought at a meeting of the board today.

Three reports have been produced into the death of baby Bronagh Livingstone, who died shortly after reaching Cavan Hospital after her mother was transferred by ambulance from Monaghan General Hospital in advanced premature labour last month.

Baby Bronagh was born at en route to Cavan Hospital. An independent review panel appointed by the Minister for Health Mr Martin to investigate the baby's death found Ms Livingstone should not have been transferred to Cavan.

The report also led to the appointment of management consultant, Mr Kevin Bonnar, by the Minister to oversee the introduction of the recommendations in the report.

NEHB risk management staff also completed a report as did the board's medical adviser, Mr Finbar Lennon, who offered his resignation following the publication of the independent report.

His resignation was not accepted by the chief executive officer Mr Paul Robinson.

It is expected that Sinn Féin TD Mr Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin and Independent Mr Paudge Connolly TD, members of the board, will seek the resignations of the CEO and the board's medical adviser.
