Bord na gCon chairman Paschal Taggart has had his resignation accepted by the Minister for Sport John O'Donoghue.
Mr Taggart confirmed on Friday that he would be stepping down, seven months ahead of his planned departure.
He is due to appear before the Public Accounts Committee on Thursday when it discusses the findings of an independent report on the greyhound doping row and the subsequent sacking of its ceo.
Mr Taggart is expected to strongly defend his role in the controversies.
