Health authorities opened an investigation into the running of a Chinese restaurant in Co Dublin following a major outbreak of food poisoning among customers, the Circuit Court heard yesterday.

The Circuit Court president, Mr Justice Smyth, heard that all members of a family who had eaten a takeaway from the Golden Time restaurant at Blakestown, Mulhuddart, had been taken ill.

Mr Stephen McCullough, counsel for Lisa Power, a five-year-old girl who suffered gastro-enteritis after eating part of a takeaway, said that the parents, Mr and Mrs Bernard Power, had also suffered from food poisoning.

Mr McCullough told the court that between 70 and 80 customers had suffered food poisoning around the same time as Lisa. Mr Justice Smyth approved a settlement offer of £4,500 made by Golden Time Ltd to Lisa.
