Disputed results:Leaving Certificate results are being withheld from 44 Leaving Certificate students who were in breach of exam regulations, while another 102 cases remain under investigation according to the State Examinations Commission.
Where a student is found to be in breach of the regulations in more than one subject, all results may be withheld or the student may be barred from repeating the examination.
In the case of the 44 investigations completed by the State Examinations Commission (SEC), candidates are now entitled to appeal the withholding of their results.
A further 102 results are not being released on a "without prejudice basis" pending further communication with the schools and candidates concerned.
A spokesman for the SEC said that the withholding of results is as a consequence of a candidate attempting to gain advantage during an examination in contravention of the regulations.
Students who have now had their results withheld will be invited to offer a response to the evidence presented by the SEC and will be entitled to have their school represent them on the matter.
