The manager of Strings, a lapdancing club in Dublin, who is accused of failing to make tax returns, is seeking the return of some of her financial records which were seized by gardaí when she was arrested last June.

Ms Mary Cullen (55), Gracepark Hall, Gracepark Road, Drumcondra, Dublin, is charged with failing to make returns in the prescribed manner contrary to section 1078 of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997.

She was held in custody on the charges until July 27th when the High Court freed her on €100,000 bail with conditions that she surrender her passport and sign on twice daily at a Garda station.

Yesterday in Dublin District Court, Sgt Tom Matthews sought a lengthy remand to obtain directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions on which court her case should be tried in.

Ms Cullen's lawyer said that as the charges related to tax matters, his client needed to get all her financial records.

Some of those taken by gardaí had been returned but a number were still being held.

Sgt Matthews undertook to return the outstanding records to Ms Cullen.

Judge James Scally refused to vary the signing on condition of her bail.

He remanded her on continuing bail for eight weeks.
