The Revenue Commissioners has collected more than €104 million from taxpayers investigated in the first three months of the year.
The figure is comprised of €47.63 million, collected from a list of taxpayers whose names were published today; €52.17 million from taxpayers whose names were not published; and a further €4,451,296 collected during 2,321 audits completed during the three-month period.
Between January 1st and March 31st, there were 259 settlements of more than €12,700. Publishing its quarterly tax defaulters' list, the Revenue said settlements in these cases have been agreed and paid by taxpayers.
Of the 259 published settlements, 89 were for amounts exceeding €100,000; 16 exceeded €500,000 and 10 exceeded €1,000,000.
One hundred and ninety six settlements, totalling €29.98 million, related to bogus non-resident account holders. Five settlements, totalling €5.54 million, related to Ansbacher account holders; five, totalling €2.09 million, related to Revenue investigations into offshore funds; and two settlements, totalling €0.29 million, related to Revenue's NIB Investigations.
Today's published settlements reflect only a portion of all Revenue audits and investigations concluded in the three-month period.
The total yield from Revenue audit and investigation programmes in the period was €104.25 million. On top of the 259 cases, there were 517 settlements in excess of €12,700, which did not fall to be published. The settlements in such cases total €52.17 million. In addition, 2,321 audits completed during the period resulted in settlements totalling €4,451,296.
