Approximately 3,500 people have made voluntary disclosures to the Revenue Commissioners concerning offshore accounts and investments ahead of a deadline next Monday.
Addressing the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the chairman of the Revenue Commission, Mr Frank Daly, said offshore investigations have yielded €184 million.
Mr Daly said 1,500 people have made voluntary disclosures in the past 24 hours. Their contribution has not yet been calculated.
The Revenue has imposed a deadline of March 29th for offshore account holders to voluntary reveal their accounts. The deadline for settlement of tax and/or penalties is May 28th.
Mr Daly said he was encouraged with response so far to the investigation with people "taking it seriously". He added that as with most initiatives with deadlines "the majority of people only respond to end dates".
In his briefing to the PAC Mr Daly said tax settlements worth €49.5 had been recovered from NIB/CMI account holders.
Ansbacher Account holders have paid €40.5 million to the Revenue.
The Moriarty and Mahon tribunals have led to the recovery of €24.5 million while bogus non-resident account holders have paid the Revenue €726 million.
Mr Daly said the total collected in the various investigations was now €1,024 million, an increase of over €100 million on his last report to the PAC in December.
Those who make voluntary disclosure face mitigated penalties, non publication of their names and non-prosecution.
