The Revenue Commissioners will this Friday name and shame some 200 illegal bogus non-resident account holders, it emerged today.

A Revenue spokeswoman confirmed to ireland.com that a tax defaulters' list will be published on its website on Friday afternoon.

The list is understood to represent one of the largest ever identifications of offshore account holders and is said to contain the names of many well-known individuals.

The list covers settlements made during the three months to the end of June and is reported to concern in excess of €30 million.

The is the second list to be published this year. An earlier one identified 285 tax defaulters who were mainly farmers, landlords and company directors.
