The former Taoiseach, Mr Albert Reynolds TD, will be cross-examined by lawyers for the former honorary consul of Ireland in Pakistan when his case in heard in the High Court next month. Dr Nadeem Beg began an action in 1994 claiming his appointment had been terminated by Mr Reynolds because of personal ill-will, spite and vindictiveness.

In the High Court yesterday, Mr Gerard Hogan SC, for Dr Beg, said both parties to the dispute had agreed that the court make a consent order for the cross-examination of Mr Reynolds, Mr Noel Dorr and Mr Sean Donlon, both former secretaries of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Dr Beg himself. The hearing is fixed for November 6th.
