The Riverdance promoters, Mr John McColgan and Ms Moya Doherty, yesterday secured £1.13 million at auction for their Co Meath country house. The couple is shortly to build a large home at the Baily in Howth.
Estate agents Jackson-Stops McCabe had been quoting a pre-auction guide price of over £750,000 for Loughlinstown House, a Regency-style period house on 16 acres at Kilbride, Co Meath. It has three main reception rooms, six bedrooms and a large leisure complex including an indoor swimming pool.
Two years ago Mr Colgan and Ms Doherty paid close to £1 million for Danes Hollow, a bungalow on 4.5 acres with spectacular sea views. They have since got planning permission to demolish the house and replace it with an ultra-modern mansion.
Meanwhile, a 3.25 acre housing site at Redcourt, Seafort Road East, Clontarf, Dublin, was sold yesterday at a Lisney auction for £7.6 million - £3.6 million more than the preauction guide price. It is likely to accommodate 40 houses.
