A 17-year-old man died yesterday evening when the car he was driving went off the road and into the canal in Co Kildare. The crash happened at around 6pm near Skew Bridge on the Allenwood/Prosperous Road.

A man in his 30s found on the roadside at Cappincur, Tullamore, Co Offaly, early yesterday is believed to have been the victim of a hit-and-run. He was found on the roadside with head injuries at around 4.40am. He was removed by ambulance to Tullamore General Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A man in his 20s died when the car he was driving struck a pole on the the M11 at Shankill at 9pm on Saturday night. He was removed to St Vincent's hospital, where he died a short time later.

Also on Saturday, a male motorcyclist was killed when his vehicle was in collision with a car in Dublin. The crash happened at around 4am on the Phibsboro Road.

A man was also killed in Co Armagh when he was struck by a car as he walked along the Derrytrasna Road in Lurgan at around 11.30pm.

Meanwhile, gardaí last night ruled out foul play in the death of a man whose decomposed body was found close to Lough Inagh in Connemara.
