The jury in the trial of two men accused of the attempted robbery of a cash van, during which their alleged accomplice was killed, has been discharged.

Darren Keane (25), Foxdene Avenue, Clondalkin, and John Boylan (25), Gandon Court, Lucan, had pleaded not guilty to attempted robbery and possession of a sawn-off shot gun at Foxborough Road, Lucan, on May 15th, 2009.

It was during the second day of the trial, which is taking place at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, that one of the jurors indicated that they knew someone who was involved in the case.

Judge Mary Ellen Ring discharged the jury and excused them from service for two years. She adjourned the case until Monday when a fresh jury panel will be sworn in.
