Former West Brom and Middlesbrough manager Bryan Robson has confirmed his interest in taking over as manager at Sheffield United.
Robson is favourite to succeed the recently-departed Neil Warnock, who resigned following the Blades' relegation to the Championship last weekend.
Former England captain Robson has been out of management since leaving The Hawthorns early in the 2006-07 campaign.
Robson said: "I said from when I left West Brom in October that I'd like to get back into the game. I enjoy the management side and the coaching of the players.
"Sheffield United are a big club and that's the type of challenge that I would be looking for."
Robson has experience of winning promotion having guided Middlesbrough to the top flight in 1995 and, after a relegation, 1998.
He successfully kept West Brom in the Premiership in 2005 but they were relegated last year and Robson left the club after a disappointing start to the next campaign.
