Roche approves €75m for water services

The Minister for the Environment has approved €75.7 million in funding for water services throughout the State.

Approval for the second phase of work on the Leixlip water treatment works and Ballycoolin reservoirs (€27.5 million) are among the projects he has cleared today.

Mr Roche also approve the tender for work on the waste-water treatment plant and outfall of the Waterford main drainage scheme. The project will cost €28.7 million.

Smaller projects approved include the tenders for the Castledermot sewerage scheme in Co Kildare (€1.26 million) and the approval of the preliminary report for the Kinlough/Tullaghan water-services improvement scheme in Co Leitrim.

Mr Roche also approved tenders for contracts connected with the Drogheda waste water treatment plant extension in Co Louth.
