American Andy Roddick burned Britain's Greg Rusedski in straight sets (7-6, 7-6, 7-5) in an explosive Wimbledon second round showdown.
Rusedski left the court fuming after an umpire over-rule at a vital point of the third set, having earlier hurled a foul-mouthed volley of abuse at the official.
But he could have few complaints as 20-year-old Roddick outplayed him in the two first set tiebreaks in the shootout between the world's two fastest servers.
The fifth seed kept his cool in the third to seal victory with an ace and set up a third round tie against Spain's Tommy Robredo.
The match burst into controversy in the third set when at 5-3 up, but 15-30 down, in the third set Rusedski totally lost his concentration when a Roddick forehand hit the baseline and was called out by a spectator.
Rusedski walked away thinking the point was his but Roddick made the winner and the umpire refused to replay the point.
Rusedski lost his serve and protested to the umpire with a string of expletives.
But with his concentration gone Rusedski went on to lose the set 7-5 and the match in straight sets 7-6 7-6 7-5.
