Collins announced his intention to leave Brunton Park unless the club was sold by current owner Michael Knighton to Irish businessman John Courtenay before Wednesday.
At the post-match press conference, Collins told BBC Radio Cumbria: "If the club is not John's by then we will both walk away.
"There is a Second Division club we will talk to about the possibility of buying that."
The remarks have infuriated the Cumbrians board of directors who moved quickly to dismiss the United boss.
An official statement from the club read: "Remarks made following today's game by Roddy Collins have astonished the board of directors of this football club.
"Following several recent outbursts, which have upset Michael Knighton, we feel that it is in the best interests that Roddy Collins is to be relieved of his duties."
Carlisle have endured another difficult season both on and off the pitch, winning just one game away from home.
United are just six points above second-bottom Lincoln in Division Three although Halifax's relegation has ensured their Football League status for at least another year.
Carlisle's solicitors are due to make a statement on Monday on the sale of the club. -PA
