Rory Delap returns to the Republic of Ireland set-up for the first time in six months after Mick McCarthy named a 24-strong squad today for the friendly against the USA at Lansdowne Road next Wednesday, April 17th.

Delap was included in the squad to face Iran last November, although he didn't play any part in the play-off matches. The Southampton winger picked up his last cap against Greece two years ago.

Richard Sadlier also returns to the squad after fears that he could be ruled out of contention for a World Cup place because of a hip injury.

McCarthy will take a look at his options up front having also included David Connolly among six recognised strikers called up.
