The man charged with abducting a young American tourist has agreed at his trial that he took a 'totally insane' route to Dublin city centre given that he had an unfamiliar distressed woman with him. The 31-year-old man said he could not recall much of the conversation in the car, but denied telling her he would let her out if she felt him. He denied this tone of conversation was the reason she jumped out of the car.
The man has pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment, sexual assault and assault causing harm on the woman on July 29th, 1999.
