David Mooney’s 48th minute strike gave Shamrock Rovers a much needed three points from their clash with Drogheda United at Dalymount Park.
The win brings Rovers to within 2 points of Finn Harps who were beaten 3-2 by Derry City at the Brandwell.
A Declan Boyle own goal gave Derry a 19th minute lead before Mark Farren doubled it for the homeside 12 minutes later.
Kevin McHugh got one back before Killian Brennan restored the two goal advantage. Another from McHugh just before the hour gave Harps hope but Derry earned the local bragging rights.
Roy O’Donovan’s goal seconds after the restart proved the difference between Cork City and Bohemians at Turner’s Cross.
John O’Flynn had given Cork a 17th minute lead before O’Donovan doubled the advantage. Dominic Foley grabbed one back for Bohs in the 62nd minute but it wasn’t to be for the Dubliners.

Bray Wanderers were denied a much needed win after Stephen Paisley rescued a point for Longford in the 71st minute at the Carlisle Grounds.
Eamonn Zayed gave Bray the lead after 54 minutes.
