RTÉ radio and television services were restored today to thousands of homes throughout the southeast region.
The services had been disrupted since last night due to “weather-related” problems with the transmitter on Mt Leinster on the Carlow-Wexford border.
An RTÉ spokesman said that repair crews had been unable to access the site in the Blackstairs Mountains because roads were blocked by ice and “drifting” snow”.
However, a technician was “helicoptered in” yesterday morning and managed to rectify the problem.
