A novel proposal to transfer Limerick's rubbish by barge down the Shannon to be burned in a waste-to-energy plant at Tarbert or Money point ESB generating stations has been made by the Labour Party.
Labour representatives, headed by Ms Jan O'Sullivan TD, met the Harbour Authorities at the weekend to discuss its proposal.
