A young rugby player who developed a disorder in his knees following a car crash has been awarded £17,500 damages in Dublin Circuit Civil Court. Mr Paul McGettigan, counsel for Gordon Hanlon (14), of Kilcrea, Donabate, Co Dublin, said the boy had a benign condition known as Osgood Schlatters Syndrome which had been rendered symptomatic as a result of the accident. He said the boy had been a rear seat passenger in his mother's car which had been hit by another vehicle. He had been thrown against the front seat and on to the floor on his knees. He had fully recovered since the 1996 accident.
