London - Hundreds of foreign nationals in long-term homosexual relationships with British citizens are to be allowed to settle in the UK, under a government concession announced yesterday. The move was welcomed by homosexual rights groups and immigrants welfare organisations. However, Tory MPs angrily denounced the change.
Under the new provisions, which come into effect on Monday, couples will have to show they have been living together for four years and intend to live together permanently before they are admitted. They will then have to show that the relationship has continued for a further year before being granted full settlement rights.
