The High Court yesterday reserved judgment in a case in which a Dublin businessman, Mr Peter Bolger (44), of Glendown Lawn, Templeogue, challenged the Criminal Assets Bureau's seizure of a Mercedes 250 car. It was seized at Dublin Airport in September 1996.

The car, valued at £23,000, is registered to Louisville Ltd, a company of which Mr Bolger is a director. CAB claims Mr Bolger owns it and that it was seized in part settlement of a £141,000 tax bill.

Mr Donal O'Donnell SC, for CAB, said yesterday there had been "an abiding vagueness of evidence" on the part of Mr Bolger and an absence of real evidence or documentation.

Mr Douglas Hogg QC, for Mr Bolger, said the case hinged on ownership of the car and criticism of his client over other matters was irrelevant.
