The Supreme Court yesterday reserved judgment on an attempt by former CIE chairman Mr Dermot O'Leary to bring a claim that two senior civil servants were involved in a conspiracy to have him removed from his post by former minister Mr Michael Lowry in 1995.

Last November the High Court refused Mr O'Leary leave to amend - so as to include a claim for conspiracy - his legal proceedings against the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications challenging his alleged dismissal in April 1995. Mr O'Leary's appeal against that decision was heard by the three-judge Supreme Court yesterday and judgment was reserved.
