Moscow - Russia will next year speed up construction work three-fold on the controversial Iranian power station at Bushehr, the Russian Atomic Energy Minister, Mr Yevgeny Adamov said yesterday. There are more than 2,000 Russians working on the site.

Israel and the United States fear that Iran may be able to develop its own nuclear arsenal within the next decade if the new power station is built, though Iranian authorities have repeatedly denied that is their intention. Tehran points out that it is regularly inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
