Customers can expect to pick up budget fares to Rome, Biarritz and Carcassonne from €29.99 and Eindhoven, Frankfurt from €19.99 exclusive of taxes.

The new destinations brings to 30 the number of routes the Airline flies from Dublin.

The Airline's deputy chief executive, Mr Michael Cawley, said the announcement was just a foretaste of what is possible if the Government would make deliver on its promise to provide second terminal for Dublin Airport.

Mr Cawley claimed a second terminal would bring five million new passengers annually into the Republic and create 5,000 extra jobs.

He accused the Government of making a "big ostentatious show" in changing the laws to allow Swedish furniture retailer IKEA to come to Ireland while dithering for three years over a second terminal at Dublin Airport.

He refused to drawn on the exact cost of the deal agreed with the new Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) but said Airline enjoyed much better relations with the Authority than with its predecessor Aer Rianta.
