The carrier said in a statement its passenger load factor, a measure of how many seats it has filled on its planes, was 82 per cent in May, compared to 81 per cent a year ago.

Ryanair posted record profits on Tuesday after fare increases by rival carriers pushed more passengers its way.

The Dublin-based carrier has flagged strong summer bookings and raised its forecast for traffic growth for the coming financial year by one million passengers to 35 million.
