Ryanair today announced it will run a new daily service from Knock airport to London.
The route will be offered from the end of October to Luton alongside existing flights from Knock to Gatwick and Stansted airports.
The airline hopes the new service will increase the number of passengers it carries through Knock to 300,000.
Michael O'Leary, Ryanair chief executive, said tourism in the west of Ireland will benefit as the route is expected to deliver over 100,000 passengers. Mr O'Leary claimed the increase in passenger numbers would support over 300 jobs in Mayo.
