LONDON - The British Prime Minister, Mr Major, was last night facing demands to sack a senior Tory MP who used racist language and described the children of his Labour opponent as "bastards".

An outspoken right-winger, Mr David Evans, also referred to some black bastard" raping a schoolgirl and admitted he did not like Mr Major, saying he was "vindictive and not forgiving".

Labour claimed that his remarks rendered him unfit to be an MP and called on Mr Major to ensure he was deselected before the next election. Mr Evans claimed he had been betrayed by a teacher who had released what were intended to be confidential remarks which had since been misinterpreted.
