The trial of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein resumed today as a series of bomb blasts rocked the capital killing at least 10 people.

The defendants are due to start testifying and are expected to call witnesses in their defence, court officials said.

Former Baath party official Mizhir Abdullah Kathim began his testimony. The other defendants, including Saddam, were not present.

Saddam and seven others are charged with crimes against humanity in connection with the execution of 148 villagers from Dujail after an assassination attempt on his life there in 1982.
