The Road Safety Authority has apologised for delays of two to three weeks in processing some driving licences and learner permits. Technical issues led to backlogs in processing the new credit card-sized licences which were introduced last month. An RSA spokeswoman said the issues have been resolved and all efforts were being made to clear the backlog.

“We would like to reassure customers that every action is being taken to ensure their licence or learner permit is processed quickly. However, customers are advised that there is currently a two to three-week delay in some motor tax offices.”

The RSA said it would assist staff if people refrained from contacting motor tax offices for licence updates .
